Whether you're short on plans for the long weekend or have a jam-packed schedule ahead of you, we recommend getting a swim in this weekend. And here's why:
There's nothing like the first push off of the wall for breaking out of the shackles of the working week and leaving the busy noise of normal life behind you. If you're anything like us, you tend to jam pack a long weekend with to-do lists, activities and socialising, so preserving a short window of time (be it 20 minutes, an hour or longer) to disconnect, not look at the phone and enjoy some peace and stillness is time well spent. Go on, you won't regret it.
If you're lucky enough to live near a Lido, pond, river or lake then you'll be pleased to hear that the forecast is looking... well, not bad for the UK... i.e. lower than usual chance of rain and apparently lots of sunshine. So there's no excuse not to enjoy a good outdoor splash - on your own, or with friends or family. If you're an indoor swimmer, then the good news continues - the lovely weather will have everyone else running for the tennis courts and parks, so the pool should be quieter than usual, leaving you free to soak up some proper you time. Bliss.
For us, there's nothing quite like the post-swim calm. That energised but contented feeling that washes over you as you emerge, mermaid-like from the pool ready to face the day, or the evening, or whatever series of tasks sit ahead of you. We think bank holidays are a perfect opportunity to decompress and reset so treat yourself to that post-swim feeling - you've earned it.
