Are you watching Blue Planet 2? If yes, perhaps you also felt shocked and upset by the episode which featured the devastating impact of plastic on a family of pilot whales.
If you missed the award-winning BBC series, then what you have recently missed is a pilot whale carrying her dead newborn baby, reticent to let go, after the young whale died of suspected pollution from plastic chemicals.
This instance is just one of many shocking examples of the havoc wreaked on marine life as a result of human pollution and plastic use. Turtles caught in carrier bags, fish swallowing sweet wrappers and plastics found in stomachs of sea creatures living in the deepest place on earth. The examples are endless.
But what can we do? The responsibility and the scale of the challenge can feel overwhelming and the prospect of living a life entirely plastic-free can feel unachievable.
However, there are a number of easy, small things we can all do to help make a big difference in reducing our environmental impact.
Easy Ways to Reduce Your Environmental Impact:
Avoid take-away coffee cups. Treat yourself to a reusable coffee mug or pop it on your wish list this Christmas. Coffee tastes better guilt free!
Carry a reusable bottle of water on you and refill rather than purchasing new plastic bottles regularly. Cheaper and means you'll stay more hydrated! Win win.
Reuse your plastic carrier bags for grocery shopping. Stick a tote bag in your handbag or a handful of carrier bags by the front door so that you remember to grab them every time you nip to the shops.
Better still - do your weekly shop online. Most supermarkets offer a "carrier bag free" delivery and a van delivering to multiple homes also contributes less pollution than lots of individuals driving to the same supermarket.
Avoid using single use, disposable plastics, such as disposable razors, plastic cutlery, plastic straws. That includes reminding your take-away provider to not include plastic cutlery in their delivery.
Get to know beauty and fashion brands that prioritise being sustainable and planet-friendly. Then treat yourself to their products, knowing you can do so guilt-free.

We've developed our unique Muse Measurement sizing system to offer a comfortable, sleek and sculpting fit, whatever your shape or size.
We know that no two “size 12” bodies are the same, so our sizing is tailored to three different body shapes:
For AA-B cup busts: the Hepburn
For C-E cup busts: the Monroe
For F-HH cup busts: the Hendricks
SWIMSUIT SIZING
Step One: Pick your usual UK dress size from 8-20.
Step Two: Pick your bust size based on our Muse Measurements system:

So if you typically wear a UK size 14 and wear a 34A bra, you’d order a 14 Hepburn. Likewise if you’re a UK size 10 and wear a 30F bra, you’d order a 10 Hendricks.
All our pieces are designed to offer stretch. However, if you’re in between sizes we recommend sizing up.
If you are very long in the body, we also recommend going up a dress size to offer additional length.
BIKINI TOP SIZING
Our Swimbras & Swim Crops are designed to fit snugly so that you feel 100% secure as you move. We have developed a precise Bikini Sizing System to help you identify your correct size.

KNICKER SIZING
All our knickers come in standard UK dress sizes from size 8 - 18.
BIGGER AND SMALLER SIZES
We currently offer all bikinis in sizes 8-18 and all swimsuits in sizes 8-20.
We are very aware that our size range is still relatively limited. We’re a small independent brand, and have focused initially on offering a highly comprehensive and effective set of products to women who wear dress sizes 8-20.
However we are very responsive to demand. If you would like to see more sizes in different types of products please get in touch at hello@deakinandblue.com - we'd love to hear from you.
For example, when we first launched back in June 2017 we tested customer demand for our products in sizes 8-16. So many of you got in touch to say that you were interested in our swimwear but needed larger sizes that within six months we expanded our size range up to UK size 20. We're really listening to you.
STILL NOT SURE?
